The UK’s Independent newspaper has begun publishing daily sudoku problems, and I’ve become addicted. It began yesterday, when I picked up the godoku (9×9) puzzle and solved it quite quickly. I then made the mistake of picking up Saturday’s super sudoku (16×16). It’s fiendishly difficult, and I can’t put it down. The blasted thing’s sitting beside me now, calling me away from more productive pursuits.
I get very nervous when an addiction grips me like this. One part of my brain is trying to keep me doing the usual day-to-day stuff, while the rest belongs to something over which I have no control. It happened to me with Rubik’s cube and Colossal Cave, too.
Still, something to do while I’m feeding the baby…
